The Sebastian District’s North Jetty Revetment Improvement Project is underway, as we previously reported on our Sebastian Inlet Fishing channel on YouTube.
While the North Jetty is closed until July 2025, anglers can still fish west of the Sebastian Inlet Bridge. Phase 1 of the project will focus on reinforcing the jetty against future storms, given the damage sustained in recent weather events.
Shoreline Foundation, Inc. (SFI), the project contractor, is scheduled to complete the removal of the remaining 40 feet of old pier and debris by January 3, 2025. New seawall construction is slated to commence the week of January 6, 2025.
Upon completion in July 2025, the north jetty will feature the following enhancements: 190 linear feet of revetment constructed with four-foot diameter granite boulders, complemented by a steel sheet pile seawall featuring a concrete sidewalk deck along sections damaged by storms.
The project is anticipated to take up to eight months to complete, with a targeted completion date of July 2025. Due to active construction, the north jetty is currently inaccessible to the public and designated as a “hard hat” construction zone
Anglers seeking fishing opportunities on the north side of the inlet can cast their lines west of the Sebastian Inlet Bridge. Additionally, the Surfside Grill and Adventures at Sebastian Inlet State Park remains open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., offering dining and recreational options for visitors.
These jetty improvements are crucial for the District’s commitment to maintaining inlet infrastructure, ensuring safe navigation, and enhancing public safety.
Additionally, the webcam will be unavailable until the project is completed.
