People are catching all kinds of fish right now at the Sebastian Inlet, including Snook, Red Drum, Jack, and others.
While live bait is usually the best, some fishermen are only using paddle tail swimbaits and jigs.
We found a lot of people fishing at the Inlet last weekend. Here are a few catches.
Gavin Coffey (pictured above) says he fishes at the Sebastian Inlet all the time. On this day, he caught a nice Snook. He caught it on a jig, using a spinning rod and reel.
Andrew Atencia caught a Red Drum with live bait. He used a 4/0 hook tied to 20lb mono for gear, which is a Monofilament Fishing Line. The hook is fairly large. Atencia didn’t use any leader.
“I fish in the Inlet twice a week, Atencia said.
Ivan Boone of Sebastian caught a Jack and a Red Drum with shrimp on a popping cork near the Inlet. A popping cork is a 6 inch float made of cork, styrofoam, or plastic.
“I fish there every weekend or as much as I can,” Boone told Sebastian Daily.
Andrew Spaulding caught a Snook. He has only visited the Sebastian Inlet a couple of times but plans to make more visits as he really enjoys the area.
“I caught it on a white soft plastic paddle tail bait with a weedless weighted hook. I use a 7’6 redfish rod and a Daiwa D3000 spinning reel with 30lb braid,” Spaulding told Sebastian Daily.
A paddle tail swimbait that Spaulding used is bass catchers. People use them year-round and say they imitate the look and feel of baitfish better than anything else. You can use them in any water condition.
Sebastian Daily will make another trip to the Sebastian Inlet later this week.
