Snook season is underway, yet activity at Sebastian Inlet remains disappointing. However, anglers report Monster Bluefish, with catches ranging between 8 and 12 pounds, eagerly biting on anything cast into the water.
At the North Jetty, Black Drum sightings have resumed, continuing a three-week streak. The outgoing tide has proven crucial for attracting these fish.
Meanwhile, Spanish mackerel have been successfully hooked at the pier’s tip during incoming tides, primarily with live or dead shrimp. Anglers say the South Jetty has yielded primarily smaller fish and catfish, attributed to murkier waters caused by recent weather conditions.
Recent high winds have stirred up the waters at the north and south jetties, reducing clarity. Despite this, some fish continue to bite.
Best Day for Fishing
Sebastian fishing conditions are set to improve with warmer temperatures and diminishing winds. The optimal days for fishing this week are projected to be Thursday through Sunday, though a notable increase in wind speeds, reaching gusts of 25 to 30 mph, is expected by Monday.
Boating conditions are cautioned with a small craft advisory in effect until Thursday evening, suggesting challenging conditions for fishing from boats until Friday.
The seas are 12 to 14 feet on Wednesday, calming to 7 to 9 feet by Thursday, and further reducing to 4 to 6 feet by Friday, with winds moderating to 5 to 10 knots heading into the weekend.
