The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) has announced an interactive game series called Gone Fishin’ for educators and parents to encourage students to learn marine conservation.

FWC is now in partnership with Pubbly, a digital education company, releasing five interactive games. The interactive game is online and has nothing to download. It supports desktop, tablet, and mobile devices.

Inside the game, students can take a virtual fishing trip and match habitats with Florida fish species, remove trash and invasive lionfish from a reef, learn proper fish handling techniques and complete a virtual fish dissection.

The FWC said while the games are targeted at fourth graders and up, they can be enjoyed by students and adults of all ages.

“These activities bring marine science right to your fingertips, providing accessible education to your home or classroom and tips to use when you head out on your own saltwater fishing trips.”

Pubbly offers a variety of educational games that “produce meaningful learning gains.” The company also provides interactive books and novels to keep readers engaged.
