Fish are biting in the St. Sebastian River and the Indian River Lagoon. However, the Sebastian Inlet hasn’t been as lucky, mainly due to the unfavorable winds and waves since last week.

Wayne Landry, also known as “Snookman,” said in his latest fishing report that over the weekend, there wasn’t much action at either the North or South Jetty. He noted that the rough conditions at the Inlet have muddied the waters. While he did spot a few jacks and catfish, that was pretty much the extent of it.
Landry, an employee of the Florida Park Service, has shared concerns about some individuals fishing at the jetty’s tip and bothering female anglers. Such behavior is entirely unacceptable. He emphasizes that using the jetty for fishing is a privilege, not a right. The primary purpose of the North Jetty is to assist boaters in navigating safely through the Inlet, and boaters always have the right of way.
There have been instances when the jetty gates were locked due to non-compliance with rules, and there have been complaints regarding littering. Landry urges everyone to dispose of waste responsibly and use the proper receptacles available.

James Fucci and Scarlett Chesser
Our friends James Fucci and Scarlett Chesser enjoyed great fishing by boat along the lagoon and the St. Sebastian River. They caught a nice catch-and-release redfish.
“We used a little of everything: pigs, finger mullet, and shrimp,” Chesser told Sebastian Daily.

Weather Report for Anglers
It seems the weather won’t be on our side for a bit, given the season. Stronger winds are forecasted to persist until the weekend. From Tuesday to Saturday, anticipate northeast and east winds ranging from 15-20 mph, with potential gusts reaching 25-30 mph. However, by Sunday, the winds should ease to around 10 mph.
Cooler temperatures are in store, with daytime highs around 77 degrees and nighttime lows close to 68. But a slight warm-up is expected for Saturday and Sunday, with highs hovering around 82 degrees and lows about 71. Additionally, there’s a 40% likelihood of rain over the weekend.
Please note that weather conditions can be unpredictable, so we’ll provide another forecast before the weekend.
Attention boaters: Starting Wednesday, expect turbulent seas of 5 to 7 feet, which might escalate to 8 to 10 feet by Thursday and continue over the weekend. Winds will be around 20 to 25 knots, with occasional stronger gusts. Combined with the potential for weekend thunderstorms, it might lead to small craft advisories.
