SEBASTIAN INLET – Two teens from Orlando are safe after their 19-foot boat overturned in the Sebastian Inlet due to rough seas on Sunday.

Paramedics at the Indian River County Fire Rescue said the teens are lucky to be alive. The boat was eventually recovered and towed back to the Sebastian Inlet State Park.

The boaters could have been taken out of the inlet since there was a strong tide, according to paramedics.

The boys, ages 13 and 17, were fishing in the channel when their vessel capsized west of the bridge. The two brothers were able to swim to a shallow area of the bridge until help arrived.

The brothers were picked up by their father and are now safely at home.

Sebastian Inlet is well known for its fishing and surfing. Professional and amateur surf tournament held there annually. The fish most popularly caught there are Snook and Redfish.
