The Florida Department of State Health Department at Indian River County has issued a warning for swimmers to stay out of the water near the Sebastian Inlet and other beaches in Vero Beach.
Last Friday, health officials reported higher than normal levels of enteric bacteria found in the Indian River Lagoon near Coconut Point at the Sebastian Inlet State Park.
Today, health officials are also warning swimmers to stay out of the water at South Beach, Humiston Beach and Sexton Plaza Beach in Vero Beach.
A large plume of dirty water was seen over the weekend near the Sebastian Inlet.
It’s typical to see water like this near the Sebastian Inlet following a Hurricane or tropical storm.
However, we have been hit with a lot of heavy rain recently, which could be runoff from the mainland.
