Publix Super Markets has issued a voluntary recall for one lot of its Rich & Creamy Vanilla Ice Cream due to the potential presence of an undeclared egg allergen, which could pose a serious or life-threatening risk to consumers with egg allergies.
The recall affects half-gallon containers of Rich & Creamy Vanilla Ice Cream with:
- UPC code 4141503043
- Sell-by date of June 19, 2026
The issue stems from a manufacturing error in which French vanilla ice cream, which contains eggs, was inadvertently packaged in containers labeled as regular vanilla, which does not list eggs as an ingredient.
The affected ice cream was distributed to Publix stores in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Tennessee. No illnesses have been reported in connection with the product.
Consumers who purchased the recalled ice cream are urged not to consume it and to return it to any Publix store for a full refund. For more information, customers can contact Publix Customer Care Department at 1-800-242-1227 or visit the company’s website.
Publix, an employee-owned supermarket chain, announced that it initiated the recall out of an abundance of caution after discovering a labeling discrepancy during routine quality checks.
