SEBASTIAN — The St. Baldrick’s IRC Brave the Shave event will be Saturday, March 21, 2026, from 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm on the sandbar at Capt. Hiram’s Resort. Once again, St. Baldrick’s will fill the resort with laughter, cheers and the buzz of clippers as Indian River County gathers for its biggest show of solidarity against childhood cancer.
Anyone can sign up to go bald, get a trim or simply show up to cheer, eat, drink, and donate. That money funds research grants through St. Baldrick’s, the largest private supporter of childhood cancer studies in the world.
To join, participants should register online at stbaldricks.org/events/indianriver2026. Each shave gets a personal fundraising page to share with friends and family. Those who can’t attend can still donate directly through the site.
The foundation is marking its 25th year overall. In Indian River County alone, the last 13 Brave the Shave events have raised a combined $1.3 million and seen more than 500 heads shaved.
This year’s honored kids include Vincent Saputo, 21, of Vero Beach, who beat rhabdomyosarcoma and is now cancer-free, and Mollie K., 21, of Oakland, Calif., a survivor of acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
Firefighters, police officers, teachers, business owners, and entire families have taken part in past years, turning the afternoon into a block party atmosphere with live music, vendors, and cold drinks under the palms.
