SEBASTIAN — A man was arrested Wednesday after allegedly exposing himself in a public hot tub at a Florida resort in Sebastian, startling several women and leading to charges of indecent exposure, authorities said.
Mark Selles, 60, of Kannapolis, North Carolina, was taken into custody at the Oyster Point Resort in Sebastian following reports of suspicious behavior around 2:10 p.m., according to a police report.
The resort’s maintenance supervisor told officers he reviewed surveillance footage of the hot tub area and spotted a man sitting nude. The supervisor confronted the individual, instructed him to return to his room and then called police.
The footage, viewed by responding officers, showed Selles in the hot tub with two women. As the women began to leave, feeling uncomfortable, Selles lifted himself up, exposing his penis above the water, the report said.
One of the women told officers that as she turned toward Selles while exiting, she saw his penis exposed. The other woman from the hot tub corroborated the account, noting they left because of the unease.
A resort employee, who was cleaning nearby pool bathrooms, also witnessed the incident. She reported seeing Selles with one leg propped up, fully exposing himself above the water as she tried to leave the area.
When questioned, Selles admitted to pulling down his swim shorts, explaining he did so for comfort and believed the hot tub’s bubbles would obscure the view. Despite his explanation, officers charged him with two counts of exposure of sexual organs under Florida Statute 800.03, citing the witnesses’ statements and video evidence.
