SEBASTIAN — A routine traffic stop on Interstate 95 turned into a high-speed pursuit Thursday afternoon when a driver fled from a Florida Highway Patrol trooper, leading authorities on a chase through Indian River County that ended with the arrest of three teenagers and the discovery of marijuana in their abandoned vehicle.
The incident began around 4:49 p.m. Nov. 13 when a trooper spotted a green Kia sedan speeding northbound near mile marker 150. The trooper estimated the car was traveling at least 90 mph in a 70 mph zone and confirmed a speed of 93 mph using his laser device.
After pulling the vehicle over, the trooper approached but the car sped off as he reached the passenger side. The Kia reached speeds over 120 mph during the chase, exiting the interstate at the Fellsmere exit onto County Road 512. The driver weaved through traffic, passed vehicles on the shoulder, ran red lights and stop signs, and looped through parking lots at a Tractor Supply store and a RaceTrac gas station.
The pursuit continued along side streets including Palmwood Avenue and 94th Street before the trooper lost sight of the car on 101st Avenue. The trooper deactivated his siren and lights, and local law enforcement — including the Sebastian Police Department, Indian River County Sheriff’s Office, and Fellsmere Police Department — joined the search with K-9 units and a helicopter.
Sebastian police later found the Kia abandoned in the parking lot of a Publix grocery store at 1451 Sebastian Blvd. A Sebastian Police K-9 track led east from the vehicle, where authorities detained three suspects in a nearby neighborhood.
The individuals were identified as Aldrick Madrid, 19, of West Palm Beach; Anthony Siladke, 19, of Boynton Beach who said he was on parole; and Jabari Williams, 19, of Lake Worth. All three were read their Miranda rights.
Madrid told police he and Williams had taken an Uber to meet girls but claimed the girls didn’t show up. He said he ran because he feared police based on videos he’d seen of shootings during chases, and he denied having a driver’s license — a claim confirmed through state records.
Siladke admitted sitting in the back seat and said he urged the driver to stop but fled because of his parole status. He refused to discuss the others and mentioned losing his shoes after falling in water during the escape. Records showed he also lacked a valid driver’s license.
Williams, who matched the driver’s description from the trooper’s initial observation, claimed he was a back-seat passenger picked up by an Uber. He couldn’t explain who paid for the ride and said he fled out of fear. He also said there were five people in the vehicle. But store surveillance video viewed by another trooper showed only three occupants fleeing the Kia, with Williams identified as the driver. He retrieved something from the car before running.
A check revealed Williams held only a Florida ID card, with his license canceled May 27, 2024. Police noted Williams operated the vehicle with “willful and wanton disregard” for safety.
An inventory search of the unlocked Kia uncovered marijuana buds and grabba leaf in plain view on the center console, along with sandwich bags. In the back seat, authorities found a cup and grinder with marijuana residue, plus a digital scale.
The three were transported without incident to the Indian River County Jail.
- Aldrick Madrid, 19, charged with 1 count of possession of marijuana, 3 counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, and 1 count of resisting an officer without violence. Bond set at $2,500.
- Anthony Siladke, 19, charged with 1 count of possession of marijuana, 3 counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, and 1 count of resisting an officer without violence. Bond set at $2,500.
- Jabari Williams, 19, charged with 1 count fleeing with disregard of safety to persons, 1 count fleeing and eluding law enforcement, 1 count reckless driving, 1 count driving while license suspended, 1 count dangerous excessive speeding 100 mph or more, 1 count of possession of marijuana, 3 counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, and 1 count of resisting an officer without violence. Bond set at $220,000.
Authorities said the events unfolded entirely in Indian River County, as Sebastian Police arrested all three suspects. No injuries reported.
