VERO BEACH – The Substance Awareness Center of Indian River County is providing Narcan Kits and training in Vero Beach at no cost to persons at risk of overdosing or witnessing an overdose.

The training is offered daily as a walk-in or by appointment. If you’re interested in attending training and receiving a Narcan Kit, contact the Substance Awareness Center at 772-770-4811.

The mission of the Substance Awareness Center is to lead the community toward a healthier lifestyle by reducing the incidence of substance abuse in Indian River County, through prevention, treatment and recovery support.

Narcan kits are now available over the counter in 46 states.

According to its website, the Substance Awareness Center of Indian River County was founded in 1989 as a resource for information and has expanded the services offered as the community need has increased.
