Larry & Teresa’s 4th Annual Memorial Poker Run in Sebastian raised $3,500 for Milestones Developmental Center for Autism of Indian River County. The event was held on September 18, 2022.

The same organizers and participants are also hosting a Breast Cancer Poker Run on Sunday, October 23, 2022, benefiting the Friends After Diagnosis of Vero Beach, which is an organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of women diagnosed with cancer.

“They are a wonderful group of people dedicated to enhancing the lives of women diagnosed with cancer. It is their hope and vision to see that all women diagnosed with cancer and their loved ones have lives filled with wisdom, wellness, fellowship, and peace,” John Rubino told Sebastian Daily.

Rubino said these recent poker runs are a blessing to be part of as they have helped raise money to help others.

Everyone is welcome to be part of this poker run on 2 wheels, 3 wheels, or cage. There is a $25 per rider donation and $5 per passenger. There will be raffles, poker hand, lottery board, and 50/50.

Sunday’s poker run will start at American Legion Post 39 in Vero Beach. Lunch is included at American Legion Post 189 (with a ticket) and live music by Southern Heat. Here’s a list of the stops:

  1. American Legion Post 39 in Vero Beach
  2. Lakewood Pub
  3. American Legion Post 40 in Ft. Pierce
  4. Vero Veterans Inc.
  5. American Legion Post 189 in Sebastian

The Friends After Diagnosis offers support groups, wellness programs, personal services, events, and networking to help survivors feel connected and secure. Their community is diverse, welcoming all ages, stages of life, and belief systems without question.

Fran Basso and Lin Reading started the organization after the two volunteered at the Indian River Medical Center to provide support for cancer survivors. They quickly learned that no support existed in Indian River County, so that’s when they started Friends After Diagnosis.
