SEBASTIAN — Veterans in Sebastian can look forward to a complimentary breakfast courtesy of the local Elks Lodge, with the event set for Sunday, Nov. 9, as a gesture of appreciation for their service.
The Sebastian Elks Lodge, at 731 S. Fleming St. on the southeast corner of County Road 512 and Fleming Street, will host the meal from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Admission is free for veterans, while spouses or significant others pay $5 each.
Organizers are asking attendees to reserve spots by Wednesday, Nov. 5, by calling 772-589-6426. The lodge expects a good turnout and wants to ensure enough food for everyone.
As Lodge No. 2714 of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, the group is part of a national fraternal organization dedicated to community service and charitable work. Its core values — charity, justice, brotherly love and fidelity — guide efforts like this breakfast. The event aims to honor military veterans ahead of Veterans Day.
The lodge regularly opens its doors for meetings on the first and third Tuesdays of most months, though it switches to just the third Tuesday in July and August, and the first Tuesday in December. Beyond that, it runs golf tournaments, fundraisers and social gatherings that often feature food, live entertainment and support for local causes. It’s also tied to senior services and area social clubs.
For more details on events or membership, which is open to U.S. citizens 21 and older who believe in God and meet other criteria, contact the lodge at 772-589-1516 or check its website.
