SEBASTIAN – Paul Carlisle, 56, will succeed Joe Griffin as Sebastian City Manager following a unanimous vote by the council Wednesday.

“He is a self-made man with tons of experience and is a perfect fit for the city,” Mayor Jim Hill told Sebastian Daily.

Hill said he has full confidence in the unanimous decision by council.

Griffin, who is retiring, will stay on through May 11.

Carlisle, who’s been Glades County chief administrative officer since 2014, was interviewed this week by the Sebastian City Council. He has more than 30 years experience in municipal government.

Carlisle was once Interim Fellsmere city manager for a brief time before joining Glades County.

Carlisle has a very extensive career. Prior to joining Glades County, he was director of public works for the city of Rock Hill, South Carolina. He was also a regional manager for a company that offered consulting services and pavement-management for municipalities and counties through the southeast.

In South Florida, he has worked for several municipalities, including Wellington and Lake Park.

The city council will consider a contract with Carlisle at its next Wednesday meeting.
