Orlando Health Sebastian River Hospital has partnered with the School District of Indian River County to ensure that students at Sebastian Elementary School of the Arts are well-prepared to learn.
Through its Back 2 School Supply Drive, the hospital donated a full year’s worth of medical supplies for the school’s clinic and critical school supplies, including over 350 wired earbuds for every student from kindergarten through 6th grade.
The partnership began when Orlando Health reached out to Sebastian Elementary to identify the school’s specific needs for the 2025-2026 academic year. The school provided a list of required medical supplies, including first-aid kits, thermometers, examination gloves, stethoscopes, and blood pressure cuffs. Orlando Health fulfilled the entire list and ensured the clinic is fully equipped to support student health.
The hospital also addressed a key academic need by donating wired earbuds, essential for students’ computer-based learning. Orlando Health team members also collected additional supplies throughout the summer, including crayons, paper, markers, pencils, and backpacks, which were delivered to the school for distribution throughout the year.
Christina McGuirk, Chief Nursing Officer at Orlando Health Sebastian River Hospital, emphasized the hospital’s commitment to the community: “We are thrilled to be part of this community and partner with the school district.”
McGuirk said the donations represent our commitment to Sebastian and the entire Indian River County community. She hopes that this inspires others to invest and meet the needs of our residents.
Dr. David K. Moore, Superintendent of Schools for the School District of Indian River County expressed gratitude. “Thanks to the generous support of Orlando Health Sebastian River Hospital, every student at Sebastian Elementary School of the Arts will begin the school year equipped with the tools they need to succeed.”
Dr. Moore also said the partnership exemplifies what it means to be Connected by Community, creating a stronger, healthier, and more empowered learning environment. “We are grateful for Orlando Health’s continued commitment to our students’ well-being and academic readiness,” he added.
Orlando Health is a not-for-profit healthcare system with over $10.5 billion in assets. In fiscal year 2022, the system contributed nearly $1.3 billion in community impact through various programs, services, and investments.
This donation to Sebastian Elementary is a continuation of that mission, ensuring students have the resources they need to thrive both academically and physically.
