Volunteer registration is now open for the 30th Annual Day of Caring, hosted by United Way of Indian River County on Saturday, October 11, 2025.
This annual event, sponsored by Publix Super Markets, brings together hundreds to collaborate, connect, and make a meaningful impact through service.
The day will start at 8:00 am with a free community breakfast at Holman Stadium, located at the Jackie Robinson Training Complex, where volunteers can pick up their official Day of Caring T-shirts. Enjoy breakfast sandwiches from Conrado-Odem McDonald’s, fresh juice from Natalie’s Orchid Island Juice Company, and coffee from Coffee House 1420.
A spirited pep rally and energizing warm-up by TBLB Fitness will prep everyone before teams depart at 9:00 am for hands-on projects supporting local nonprofits, schools, and community organizations.
“This event is the heartbeat of our community,” said Meredith Egan, CEO of United Way of Indian River County. “It’s everyday people showing up for one another—with energy, kindness, and a spirit of service that inspires hope and connection.”
There are various volunteer opportunities available, ranging in size and skill level, with projects designed to be completed in four hours. These opportunities are open to individuals, families, businesses, schools, and civic groups.
This year’s highlighted projects include:
- Sorting recycled fishing line and creating light test cards with Coastal Connections
- Packing clothing and books for Kidz Closet Charities
- Making holiday cards for seniors with the Senior Resource Association
- Organizing storage spaces with Team Success Enterprises
- Enhancing the Childcare Resources campus through cleaning, landscaping, and classroom preparation
