INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The Indian River County library system is gearing up for its 7th Annual Costume Swap, offering residents a chance to trade in gently used Halloween outfits and accessories for “new to you” items, easing the cost and hassle of the holiday.
Donations of clean, wearable costumes and accessories for adults and children of all sizes will be accepted at the Main, North County, or Brackett library branches from Monday, Sept. 29, through Friday, Oct. 10, at 5 p.m.
Participants receive an orange ticket for each costume donated and a green ticket for each accessory, which can be redeemed at the Swap Party on Saturday, Oct. 11, starting at noon.
Library officials said items must be in good condition — no rips, stains or tears unless they’re part of the design — and they reserve the right to decline donations that are not wearable or appropriate. Those without tickets can join after 1 p.m., with a limit of one costume per person.
Indian River County Library System’s mission is to provide access to resources that enrich personal, educational, cultural, and recreational pursuits.
The system assembles and organizes materials for all ages, interests, and circumstances, using trained staff and modern technology to meet community needs and uphold democratic ideals of public libraries.
