The Fellsmere Ole Timers Reunion Picnic will be at LaPorte Farms on Saturday, March 12, 2022, from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm. There will be a lot of reminiscing about the good ole days and tasty barbecue. 

They will be serving pulled pork, BBQ beans, coleslaw, rolls, dessert, sweet/unsweet tea, and lemonade for lunch at noon sharp. The cost per person is $20. Mail checks to LaPorte Farms at 7700 129th St. in Sebastian, Florida with your name and Fellsmere Ole Timers Reunion Picnic.

Fellsmere is a rural wonderland with an eco-friendly environment and home to Blue Cypress Lake, one of the world’s largest osprey nesting sites, and it boasts one of the top fishing spots in the world for bass and crappie.

Founded in 1911, Fellsmere was named after E. Nelson Fell. It combines the founder’s name Fell and the word mere, which means “a watery place.”

Fellsmere is the first place in Florida where women were allowed to vote. During a municipal election on June 19, 1915, resident Zena M. Dreier became the first woman to legally cast a ballot in the Southern States, five years before the 19th Amendment established women’s suffrage nationally.
