SEBASTIAN — Cub Scouts from Pack 589 spread holiday cheer Thursday at a local assisted living facility, delivering handmade gifts and belting out Christmas carols to residents and staff.
The young scouts visited Pelican Landing Assisted Living Facility on Dec. 11, armed with decorated gift bags stuffed with cookies, painted ornaments, Christmas cards, candy canes and either festive gloves or socks.
They capped off the evening by singing seasonal songs, according to Carlos, a leader from Pack 589.
“We also brought gifts to the staff,” Carlos told Sebastian Daily, adding the gifts to the facility’s staff were a thank-you for their work.
The event aimed to brighten the holidays for elderly residents during a busy time of year.
Pack 589, based in Sebastian, focuses on community service projects alongside traditional scouting activities. Such visits have become a tradition for some scouting troops, fostering empathy and holiday spirit among youth while providing companionship for seniors.
