VERO BEACH — The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 56 is offering a one-day boating safety class aimed at educating boaters on essential skills and regulations.
The training session is set for Feb. 21 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at American Legion Post 39, 1535 Old Dixie Highway in Vero Beach.
Participants will cover topics including boat parts and terminology, pre-departure preparations such as float plans and fueling, waterway navigation rules, safe vessel operation, legal requirements for registration and operator ages, and handling emergencies like accidents or weather issues.
The class costs $25 per student, with free admission for teens. Those who complete the course and pass the exam will receive a certificate and a Florida state boater’s ID card.
