The Craft Club of Sebastian invites the public to participate in a treasure hunt at Riverview Park on March 9, 2024, from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm during their Craft Show. The grand prize will be a Mel Fisher Treasure Museum Atocha Replica Coin, made with some Atocha silver. In addition, they will be giving away hundreds of dollars in prizes.
First, anyone wanting to participate should visit the first table at the park’s northeast entrance to receive a treasure map starting at 10:00 am. Write your name, cellphone number, and email address at the bottom of the paper. Then, follow the clues until you have completed the riddle on the map.
Prize winners will be announced every quarter hour beginning at 11:00 am. You do not have to be present to win; they will call or email you and let you know if you are a winner.

Our Lady of Atocha
The renowned Spanish treasure ship, Our Lady of Atocha, was part of a fleet that succumbed to a hurricane off the coast of the Florida Keys in 1622. Laden, with copper, silver, gold, tobacco, gems, and indigo sourced from Spanish ports in Cartagena, Porto Bello, and Havana, was en route to Spain when disaster struck.
The remarkable discovery of much of the wreck of Our Lady of Atocha occurred on July 20, 1985, thanks to Mel Fisher’s commercial treasure-hunting expedition. After a protracted legal battle with the State of Florida, Fisher ultimately gained sole ownership of the treasure rights.
