SEBASTIAN — City Council Member Christopher Nunn has earned the top honor in a training program for Florida’s elected officials, the city announced.
Nunn received the Gold Certificate of Excellence from the Florida League of Cities’ Certificate Program for Elected Municipal Officials, recognizing his commitment to ongoing education and professional development.
The program, which offers three levels of achievement — Bronze Certificate of Merit, Silver Certificate of Leadership and Gold Certificate of Excellence — rewards participants for attending training sessions and events.
“The Florida League of Cities continues to offer outstanding educational opportunities for municipal leaders at every stage of their public service,” said Michael C. Blake, the league’s 2024-2025 president and mayor of Cocoa. “By participating in the FLC’s training opportunities, elected leaders are strengthening their knowledge, growing professionally, and ensuring they are prepared to meet the needs of their communities with confidence and integrity.”
Nunn completed the requirements between July 2024 and July 2025, accumulating points through webinars, online orientations, ethics courses, the Institute for Elected Municipal Officials and the league’s annual conference and legislative events.
“The Florida League of Cities has been instrumental in ensuring our Cities know when Local Rule is in danger from a possible state law change and then helping us keep control over our Local Decisions,” Nunn said.
Recipients at all levels will be highlighted in the league’s online magazine at qualitycities.com and during its annual conference.
Founded in 1922, the Florida League of Cities represents the state’s municipal governments, advocating for local self-government and citizen-led decision-making under the motto “Local Voices Making Local Choices.” For more information, visit flcities.com.
