SEBASTIAN — The Ocean Research & Conservation Association is hosting its signature fundraising event next month at a local submarine manufacturer, aiming to rally support for efforts to protect Florida’s Indian River Lagoon and coastal waters.
The Explorer’s Experience will take place Feb. 28 at 6 p.m. at Triton Submarines, 10055 102nd Terrace in Sebastian. The evening will bring together scientists, conservationists, community leaders and ocean advocates for dinner, drinks, live music and activities centered on deep-sea exploration, according to the nonprofit.
Tickets are $250 and available at www.teamorca.org/events.
Guests will get an up-close look at advanced submersibles while participating in bioluminescence-inspired light painting, a silent auction and a raffle for a custom paddleboard donated by Dragonfly Boatworks.
The event also highlights the work of ORCA founder Dr. Edie Widder, whose research on bioluminescence and deep-ocean life is featured in the new documentary “A Life Illuminated.”
ORCA, a Vero Beach-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit, focuses on science-based conservation, water quality monitoring and community education to restore aquatic ecosystems. More information is at www.TeamORCA.org.
