VERO BEACH — Vote-by-mail ballots have been sent to 1,684 registered voters in Indian River County who requested them for the Nov. 4 municipal elections, county elections officials said.
The elections will decide city council seats in Fellsmere and Vero Beach. Sebastian will not hold an election that day.
The Supervisor of Elections Office also mailed 20 ballots to military and overseas voters to give them more time to vote and return them.
All prior vote-by-mail requests expired in December 2024. Voters who renewed their requests should receive ballots next week.
Voters can still request a mail ballot until 5 p.m. on Oct. 23. Requests can be submitted online at VoteIndianRiver.gov or by calling 772-226-4700.
Ballots must arrive at the elections office by 7 p.m. on Election Day to count. The U.S. Postal Service advises mailing them at least a week early.
Leslie Rossway Swan, the supervisor of elections, reminded voters that mailed ballots cannot be dropped off at polling places on Election Day.
Voted ballots must be returned in the provided certificate envelope, signed and dated by the voter, to the Indian River County Supervisor of Elections Office.
