SEBASTIAN — Discount grocery chain Aldi is growing its reach in the Treasure Coast with three new stores slated to open in Sebastian & Micco this spring, and Vero Beach on March 19, 2026, company officials confirmed.
The German-based retailer has been pushing into new markets across the U.S. as part of a wider growth strategy. The Sebastian, Micco, and Vero Beach locations will add to Aldi’s existing network in the state, where it already operates more than 200 stores.
“We are happy to confirm our new stores in Micco and Sebastian are on track to open this spring, Chris Hewitt, regional vice president for Aldi, said in a statement to Sebastian Daily.
“While we don’t have specific opening dates for these stores just yet, we will be sure to reach out as more details become available and to extend an invitation to our grand opening ceremonies,” Hewitt added.
Residents in Sebastian and Micco are anxiously awaiting the stores to open, as both were Winn-Dixie stores that have closed. It has been extremely challenging for some Barefoot residents, as they rely on golf carts to get their groceries.

Aldi’s goal is to reach 2,500 stores nationwide by the end of next year. In Florida alone, the chain has added dozens of outlets in the past five years, focusing on underserved suburban and rural areas.
Aldi boosts efficiency by charging customers for grocery bags and requiring a 25-cent deposit for shopping carts, which is refunded upon return. This strategy has allowed the chain to challenge bigger rivals like Walmart and Publix in markets where shoppers hunt for bargains.
