In Week 4, the Sebastian River High School Football player spotlight is set to shine on two standout seniors, Jefferson Charles and Louis Caswell. Both athletes have demonstrated exceptional skill on the field, making them natural choices for recognition by their coaches.

Their dedication and passion for the game have propelled the team forward and earned them the admiration and respect of teammates, opponents, and fans. As the season progresses, there’s no doubt these two will continue to be key players, setting the pace and raising the bar for their fellow Sharks.

Jefferson Charles #18

Jefferson Charles, a senior, boasts a GPA of 3.10. Upon completing high school, he aspires to pursue a B.S. in Business Administration and Entrepreneurship at a four-year institution while furthering his passion for football.

Charles, who started his football journey at the age of 9, holds a deep love for the game. He takes pride in representing Sebastian River High School as their Defensive Cornerback.

Although college offers haven’t come his way yet, Charles remains undeterred. He’s committed to doing his best to secure an opportunity.

Like many standout players before him, one of Charles’ cherished football moments was his inaugural midnight practice.

“One of my favorite football memories at Sebastian River High School that I will always cherish was my first-midnight practice; what a different and incredible experience, he told Sebastian Daily.

“I really want to thank Coach Perry, Coach Freeman, and Coach Jeff for caring about me above all else and helping me become a better person and football player,” he added.

In addition to his coaches, he had to shout out to his family and fallen brothers.

“I want to give a shout-out to my Mom first and foremost. She has always stayed on me, kept me on the right path, been there for me, and made it happen no matter how tough times got. My Rock! In addition, I have to shout to my grandma, sister, brothers, and my fallen brothers. I work hard for y’all, Charles added.

Louis Caswell #5

Louis Caswell, a varsity wide receiver, dreams of playing football at the college level while pursuing a degree in business. With a commendable GPA of 3.4, he discovered his passion for the sport during his freshman year, which marked the onset of his unwavering dedication.

At SRHS, he is particularly inspired by the wisdom and guidance of the coaching staff.

“The coaching staff has been a great inspiration to me in my years of playing. They teach us life lessons that help us on and off the field. In addition, they’ve taught us to trust the process and have strong character,” Caswell stated.

“I try to live my life the way I play on the field in this sport I love. I look out for others, mentor, and put effort into everything,” he added.

Off the field, Caswell indulges in activities like scuba diving, fishing, and snow skiing and cherishes moments spent with friends.

Besides expressing gratitude for his coaches, Caswell also extends heartfelt appreciation to his family.

“I would like to thank my amazing parents and sister for helping me be the best version of myself daily. Love you all very much,” he added.

The Varsity football team of SRHS will face Beachside High at Shark Stadium on Friday, September 15, 2023. The game starts at 7:00 p.m. So, come out and show you support!
