Kristen Jones, a senior at Indian River Charter High School, is the first student in Indian River County’s recent history to have been selected to participate in the National Honor Choir by the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA).
Later this month, Jones and her family will travel to Cincinnati, Ohio, to participate in this event, rehearsing with the best high school vocalists from across the country before presenting a culminating concert at the end of the event.
“This is a really exciting honor,” Ethan Kinkle, Choir Director at Indian River Charter High School, told Sebastian Daily.
Jones has been in choir during all 4 years of high school as well as 3 years at Sebastian River Middle School.
The mission of ACDA is to inspire excellence and nurture lifelong involvement in choral music for everyone through education, performance, composition, and advocacy.
The association sponsors a number of awards and competitions throughout the year designed to celebrate the highest levels of achievement in various areas of choral art.
