Willis Edmund Dugger

Willis Edmund Dugger unexpectedly passed away on Nov. 16, 2022, surrounded by family at Cleveland Clinic-IRC in Vero, Florida.

Willis was born Jan. 20, 1941, in Washington County, Indiana to W. Alonza Dugger and Fannie Gardener-Dugger. He attended Salem schools and had many friends growing up at the farm in rural Salem. He was a member of the National Guard and then worked at the National Guard Armory in Stoutfield, Indiana, proudly painting Army vehicles.

He then moved to Florida and worked with his brother, Morse, as a commercial fisherman until he retired. He enjoyed hunting with his friend Bert, playing poker at the Moose Lodge, shooting pool, and telling us so many stories about growing up at the farm & fishing in the ocean.

Willis is survived by his daughter, Sherrie Lay and son John Dugger. He is also survived by three stepsons, Billy, Roy, Jimmy, his sisters Faye, Ruby, Rosa, Patty, Maxine and brothers Morse & Larry. He was preceded in death by his wife Ceil, his parents, his stepmother Susan, his brothers Frances, John, Buck and sister Loraine.

Willis enjoyed visiting with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and his many friends. Please join us as we celebrate his life on Jan. 21, 2023, at the Moose Lodge in Sebastian, Florida, from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m.

We will add our father to the Memorial Table at the Short-Dugger Reunion on June 3, 2023, in Henryville, Indiana.
