SEBASTIAN – Virginia Van Wolvelaerd, 91 of Sebastian Florida, died Friday, December 21, 2018 at home surrounded by loving family members at her side.

She was born to the late Augustino and Helen Vanacore, on September 8, 1927 in New Haven, CT. She was predeceased by her husband of 51 years, Marcel Van Wolvelaerd and her second husband of over 10 years, Theodore Van Gelder. She was one of eleven children and is survived by Ethel DeMusis of Sebastian, FL and Raymond Vanacore (Muriel) of Hamden, CT.

Virginia had a zest for life and was full of God’s love. This was apparent to all that came into contact with her. Her smile was contagious and she was recognized for this gift from God that she shared with all. She raised her family in New Haven, CT and enjoyed what most would refer to as living the “American Dream”. She began her real estate career in her 50’s. She worked as a realtor for Beasley Realty in CT for many years where she earned much recognition and was a member of the Multi-Million Dollar Club. She moved to Singer Island, FL in 1985 and then finally retired in Sebastian, FL in 1987.

Virginia was an active member in Sweet Adaline’s and also the various church choirs and singing groups. Virginia had a beautiful voice and loved to sing, as well as travel. She took many trips abroad visiting many countries throughout Europe in her lifetime. She was an avid tennis player and was a founding member of the Sebastian Friendly Tennis Club.

Virginia is survived by her four children, Peter Van Wolvelaerd of Carefree AZ, Dora Elgohary (Wagih) of Navarre, FL. Marcel Van Wolvelaerd Jr. (Rosemary) Guilford CT., and Erica Ogilvie (Jason) of Sebastian FL. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Megan Van Wolvelaerd (Zack), Arielle Van Wolvelaerd, Nader Jomaa (Joyanna), Marcel Jomaa, Nadia Jomaa, Noelle Villella (Rob), Rachel Van Wolvelaerd, Morgan Ogilvie, and five great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held on January 3, 2018 at 10:00 am at St. Sebastian Catholic Church 13075 US-1, Sebastian, FL 32958 with a reception immediately following at the church hall.
