Samuel Ward Lachle, II

Samuel Ward Lachle, II, age 61, of Sebastian, FL, passed away Friday, January 14, 2022, surrounded by his family and friends following a long, valent, courageous battle with cancer.

Sam was born in Shreveport, LA, on February 26, 1960. He began his life in Florida after relocating from Massachusetts with his family and being raised on a fish farm in the Micco, FL area owned and operated by his father Samuel Ward Lachle, later relocating to the Live Oak, Fl following the death of his father at a young age.

As an adult, Sam relocated back to the Palm Bay, FL, area and started a family. He spent many years in the area enjoying happy and memorable times boating and fishing on the Indian River with his family, his lifelong friends the Taglione’s, and an abundance of other friends and acquaintances.

Sam owned and operated his lawn business for over 30 years, providing excellence of customer service and his attention to detail above all else. He met his wife of 23 years, Sharon, in North Carolina after moving to the area with this family to better the lives of his children with the promise of better-paying jobs. He furthered his love of plants with a career as a horticulturist at NC State University, where Sam was known for taking pride in caring for the historical University grounds.

Sam was a devoted and loving son, husband, father, and grandfather, a passionate family man above all else. He enjoyed spending quality time with friends and family. Sam especially loved spending time with his son and grandsons Bronson Lachle and Cayden Lachle, sharing their love of sports, the Miami Dolphins and Seattle Seahawks.

He adored his pets, his cat, Tut, and his dog Junior. He was always lending a helping hand to strangers, family, friends, and neighbors and loved sharing his diverse knowledge of plants, hundreds he knew by both their common and Latin names, with anyone that was interested.

On weekends he scouted garage sales and was always bringing home trinkets to be reused and sometimes plants that had been discarded, providing a green thumb to bring them back to their beauty. He had a strong work ethic more than anything else and was a very hard-working, devoted man. He was loved and respected by many and will always be remembered for being himself, not afraid of hard work, his love of the outdoors, music, and his determination to do a great job the first time around, no matter how long the job took.

He is survived by his partner, friend, and adoring wife Sharon, his mother, Gail Cassady Price of Vero Beach, Fl., his beloved son Chris (Mellissa) Lachle of Vero Lake Estates, FL., grandsons, Bronson Lachle and Cayden Lachle, grand-daughter Madison Downey, his uncle Zach Cassady of Seattle, WA, sisters Laura of Arizona, Kathy Lachle and nieces Kaylie Lachle and Jessika Jensen of California, nephew Nolan Lachle and many cousins.

Sam was predeceased by his father, Samuel Ward Lachle, daughter Sabrina Lachle, sister Allison Lachle, brother Michael Lachle and stepfather William Price.

A celebration of Sam’s life will be scheduled later. In remembrance of Sam’s love of life and horticulture, please plant a tree or flowering shrub to continue Sam’s legacy.
