Janice L. (Downs) Bayko, age 86, of Newburyport, passed peacefully Tuesday evening, April 28, 2020, at Port Healthcare Center in Newburyport. She was the beloved wife of 56 years to the late Andrew Bayko, who died in 2009.
Born in Newburyport, June 18, 1933, Janice was the daughter of the late Russell and Frances (Hodgdon) Downs and was a graduate of Newburyport High School.
For many years she had worked as a bookkeeper at the former Newburyport Shirt Company.
Her greatest joy in life was her family and close friends. She was a loving wife, nurturing mother, very attentive grandmother, and dedicated friend. Janice and her husband Andrew enjoyed countless years wintering in Barefoot Bay, Florida with family and friends.
The gift of her life will forever be treasured by her three children, Pamela Carideo and husband Paul, Scott Bayko, and Douglas Bayko and wife April; her grandchildren, who held the key to her heart, Antonia Carideo, James Carideo, Maxwell Bayko, Alli Bayko and Alexa Bayko; dear friend Janice Carey along with extended family and friends from near and far.
Burial at Long Hill Cemetery, Salisbury, will be held at a later date.
