MICCO – Bruce Beatty McMann (Sr.), age 76, passed away peacefully in his home in Little Hollywood near Micco on April 14, 2019. He was born in Columbus, Ohio and came to Florida in 1956. He was surrounded by friends and family throughout his remaining days and passed quietly in the company of his wife of 52 years, Katherine and son Bruce Jr.

Bruce spent his entire life in the service of others in one fashion or another. As a 17 year old, he convinced his father to purchase an Old Air Force water truck and morphed it into a fire truck and created the Micco Volunteer Fire Department serving the south county. Bruce would graduate from the Florida State University before joining the US Marine Corps serving in the Washington DC area. Following the Marine Corps, he joined the Arlington County, (VA) Police Department where he served 4 years.

Always wanting to return home to Florida, Bruce took a job with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement as a special agent where he would retire in 1998. Still wanting to offer his skills, he joined the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office where he remains in a reserve status for 14 years teaching firearms to active deputies and recruits. He would spend a total of 43 years in law enforcement.

Bruce was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Victoria and Mary Lynn and survived by Katherine, Bruce Jr., grandsons, Noah and Colton as well as multiple members of the McMann and Beatty families.

At the request of the family services will be private.
