Swimming advisory lifted at beaches in Indian River County.

SEBASTIAN – The Florida Department of Health in Indian River County has lifted the swimming advisory for three beaches in Vero Beach.

“Based on satisfactory microbial water quality test result, the Florida Department of Health in Indian River County is lifting the swimming advisory that was issued on January 31 for the breach sites at South Beach, Humiston Beach, and Sexton Plaza Beach,” public spokesperson Stacy Brock told Sebastian Daily.

Last week, high levels of bacteria related to fecal pollution were found in water samples in Vero Beach, prompting swimming advisories for the three beaches.

Water samples taken at the Sebastian Inlet showed some bacteria, but not enough to cause any health advisories. Wabasso Beach is fine with no bacteria found in water samples.
