Rumor Control: No confirmed cases of Coronavirus in Sebastian

There’s been a lot of rumors in recent days about a possible local man contracting the coronavirus in Sebastian.

We have spoken with someone with the Florida Department of Health who said the rumor is false. As of right now, there are no confirmed coronavirus cases in Indian River County or Brevard County.

Since last night, there are four new cases in Florida.

One of those cases was just announced an hour ago in Seminole County, near Orlando.

“He is a 68 year old male that is being appropriately cared for & isolated. This is a travel-related case,” health officials told Sebastian Daily.

It was announced yesterday that the NBA has postponed its season, and Actor Tom Hanks and his wife have the coronavirus. President Trump had banned all travel from Europe (except for the U.K.) for 30 days.

We will have more news about coronavirus Friday, but we do not plan to report every single case in Florida unless the virus spreads into Indian River County or Brevard County.

In the meantime, you can read the CDC’s coronavirus preventative steps.

It’s great to prepare, but there’s no reason to panic.
