Joy Nottage is a certified ACE personal trainer and fitness nutrition specialist, Spin instructor, TRX trainer, and Pound Pro. She has a passion for helping people realize that fitness can be fun and their health and wellness is worth the investment. Through a “baby-step” process, she helps her clients believe in themselves and become more than they ever thought possible. Right after Pound announced they were partnering with The Alzheimer’s Association for The Longest Day fundraiser, her father-in-law started showing signs of dementia.

“We started feeling the frustration and helplessness of seeing how memory loss and confusion in a loved one can affect families. I knew then that I had to step up and help raise money through this event so that other people have the resources they need to combat this disease,” Nottage told Sebastian Daily.

Sara Dipardo was excited to be part of this endeavor because 2 years ago she lost her grandmother Marianne Hinz to dementia.

“Watching her deteriorate and slip away slowly was very hard for our family. It was like the light inside of her was slowly snuffed out. She meant a lot to me, and I miss her terribly. To do something in her honor that can also help others with support, care, and to aid in research is a way for me to keep her memory alive,” Dipardo told Sebastian Daily.

DiPardo has been an educator since 2007, having taught all ages. Teaching and empowering others is a passion of hers. She has a Masters in Music Education from The Florida State University. She is also certified in Personal Training, Fitness Nutrition, Behavior Weight Management, Pre & Post Natal Fitness, a Pound Pro, and a Beachbody Coach. She strives to inspire and motivate adults and kids to make their health and fitness fun.

They chose an outdoor Pound class for their event because Pound has a unique way of bringing people together. Pound fitness classes have brought a whole new level of energetic and creative workouts to gyms and fitness studios worldwide. Studies have shown that the rhythm of drumming permeates the entire brain, improving focus, thinking, and decision-making skills. Combine that with powerful, motivating music, and you have a complete mind and body workout that leaves you wanting more.
