The Florida Department of Health is confirming that there’s one coronavirus case in Indian River County.

State health officials confirmed the case about 20 minutes ago. The patient is a 77-year-old female.

There are 9 pending cases at this time. 11 were negative. There is no additional information at this time, or what city the patient lives.

Florida now has 381 active COVID-19 cases, and 9 deaths. There are 62 new cases being reported, bringing the total to 381.

The health department is encouraging everyone to wash their hands often with soap and water for a minimum of 20 seconds, especially before eating, after going to the restroom, coughing, sneezing, or blowing your nose.

When water and soap and are not available, it is best to use hand sanitizer with an alcohol-base that has a minimum of 60% alcohol.

Officials are asking that everyone stay home when they are sick and avoid close contact with anyone under the weather.
