Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital in Vero Beach has launched a new online service that enables patients to see a medical professional 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Through Express Care Online, patients can see and communicate quickly with a healthcare provider about urgent healthcare matters using any mobile device, such as a smartphone, tablet, or a desktop computer.
The provider can evaluate, diagnose, and treat an ailment, and prescribe medication if necessary.
“The way we deliver services is rapidly evolving, and technology allows us to make access to healthcare more convenient,” said Greg Rosencrance, MD, FACP, President of Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital.
“An emergency situation can happen at night or on the weekend. With Express Care Online, patients can be seen and treated instantly or advised to go to the hospital for further treatment,” Rosencrance added.
The online service can be accessed from a free app, which can be downloaded from Google Play, the App Store or Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital’s website at http://ClevelandClinicIRH.org/eco.
Express Care Online allows patients to be seen via a private, secure video, which is often sufficient to determine the seriousness of a rash, earache, or flu-like symptoms. Express Care Online is designed to diagnose and treat many other acute health symptoms, including cough, urinary tract infections, abdominal pain, diarrhea, fever, and headaches. If the provider determines the patient needs medication, a prescription can be sent electronically to the pharmacy of the patient’s choice.
The Express Care Online service costs $55 and is payable by credit card at the time of service.
