VERO BEACH – A Vero Beach man is facing ten counts of sexual performance by a child after a St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office investigation led to his arrest.
William Vernon Tarter, 65, was allegedly downloading and viewing child pornography. A St. Lucie County special agent discovered that he was advertising files of child pornography over the Internet.
They located him at a house in the 5000 block of 1st Square SW, Vero Beach after a subpoena of Comcast yielded an IP address.
During the search of Tarter’s home, he confessed to downloading and viewing files that contained child pornography from his laptop.
He is incarcerated at the Indian River County Jail on a 50,000 bond.
