The Fellsmere Police Department said officers were dispatched to the 1000 block of Lincoln Steet at 2:43 p.m about a shooting.
As officers arrived, they were confronted with a distressing sight – an adult male victim suffered from multiple gunshot wounds, prompting immediate medical attention.
The victim was transported to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center in Ft. Pierce for urgent care.
While authorities have secured the area, assuring residents of their safety, the area remains an active crime scene. Motorists are advised to divert to State Street until further notice.
