Sentencing in Damien Gilliams and Pamela Parris Criminal Case Postponed

Damien Gilliams

Former Sebastian City Council members Damien Giliams and Pamela Parris won’t face sentencing on Monday, June 21, 2021. Instead, it’s been postponed until next month.

So far, there’s a hearing scheduled for July 19, 2021. We’re not sure when the sentencing will take place.

Last month, Gililams and Parris were convicted by a jury on charges of perjury and violating the Sunshine Law. Gilliams also filed motions to disqualify the judge and to limit restitution.

Gilliams is challenging the court, stating that Judge Michael Linn should remove himself from the case because his wife worked at the State Attorney’s Office. Linn dismissed the motion, but now Gilliams wants a higher court to review the case.

Many Sebastian residents and legal experts believe Gilliams is trying to stall the sentencing or get a new trial.
