Craig Steven Conklin was arrested after smashing his wife's head against a wall in Sebastian, Florida.

Last Friday, police received a call about a man slamming a woman’s head against a wall inside a U-Haul truck in the parking lot of Cumberland Farms in Sebastian.

“As I made contact with the occupants of the vehicle, I observed a white male sitting in the passenger seat of the vehicle holding a Michelob Ultra beer in his right hand,” the officer said.

Police made contact with the male individual, identified as 46-year-old Craig Steven Conklin, and asked if he slammed his wife’s head against a wall in the U-Haul.

Conklin said that “he could not remember if he grabbed” her by the hair, according to the report. The officer smelled a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage whenever Conklin spoke.

The wife told police that she’s been married to her husband for 16 years and that he became upset after the vehicle got a flat tire. She said Conklin became angry and “grabbed her by the back of her hair and slammed her face against the driver’s side door” of the vehicle, according to the affidavit.

“While speaking to [the victim], I noticed that she appeared to be out of breath, visibly shaking, and sweating heavily. I also observed redness in the center of [the victim’s] forehead,” the officer said.

Conklin was arrested and charged with Battery Domestic Violence and transported to the Indian River County Jail. He was released Saturday after posting $1,500 bond.
