Deputies say a startling incident occurred last Friday at approximately 5 p.m. when a 57-year-old Sebastian man threatened another motorist at gunpoint.

Two witnesses say they were in a vehicle at the 85th Street and U.S. Highway 1 intersection when a motorist in front of them, later identified as Robert John Dahdah, demanded them to lower their music. The two complied, reducing their music’s volume.

As both vehicles proceeded onto U.S. Highway 1, Dahdah allegedly threw an unknown object from his window toward the two witnesses.

While the witnesses tried to pass Dahdah’s vehicle, they reported that he brandished a black handgun, aiming it directly at them. One of them repeatedly yelled, “Gun!” leading to a swift 911 call to alert local law enforcement.

Indian River County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded and located Dahdah on 15th Avenue in Vero Beach. During the vehicle’s search, they recovered a black Glock 42 .380 caliber handgun from the glove compartment.

According to deputies, Dahdah confessed to brandishing the firearm at the other vehicle and pointing it at them. During the investigation, deputies discovered he did not possess a valid Florida concealed carry permit.

Dahdah has since been charged with improper exhibition of a firearm and carrying a concealed firearm without a permit. Following his arrest, deputies transported him to the Indian River County Jail on a $4,000 bond.
