On Thursday, a man was arrested after trying to steal more than $500 in tools at the Napa Auto Parts store, located at 11654 U.S. Highway 1 in Sebastian.

Deputies say that 33-year-old Brett Parker Watts walked into the store at approximately 9:00 a.m. and selected two toolsets and a drill.

“The defendant then began to run towards the front door, and the sounds of the tools shifting in their cases caught the attention of the witness/employee. The defendant then continued to run towards the front door and then exited the business through the front door,” a deputy said.

The employee called the police and provided a description of a large black pickup truck with pipes and stickers.

Soon after, a deputy spotted the truck traveling on Indian River Drive and conducted a traffic stop. The deputy spotted the toolsets and drill in the cab.

The stolen items are valued at $510.02.

Watts was charged with shoplifting and transported to the Indian River County Jail for processing.
