Fellsmere Pays Tribute With 9/11 Ceremony

The City of Fellsmere will be holding a remembrance ceremony, paying tribute to the tragic events of 9/11. This year marks the fifteen year anniversary of the events.

The ceremony will be held on September 11, 2016, at 3 p.m. on the Old School front lawn, located at 22 South Orange Street.

Danny R. McKnight, a U.S. Army, Retired Col. will be the keynote speaker for this event. McKnight graduated from Florida State University as a distinguished military graduate with his B.S. in Management in 1973; then he received his Masters Degree in Higher Education from the University of Florida in 1985.

McKnight has had numerous military assignments, one the most memorable was the Battle of Mogadishu in which he wrote the book “Streets of Mogadishu.”

The guest speakers for this remembrance ceremony will include Fellsmere Police Department Chief Keith Touchberry, Indian River County Sheriff Deryl Loar, and Indian River County Fire Rescue Captain Joe Earman.
