A 56-year-old man was arrested after stealing a 6-pack of Bud Light, then sitting on an electric shopping cart scooter to drink them in the Walmart parking lot, according to the Sebastian Police Department.

As officers arrived, they spoke with Daniel Paul Driscoll, who was sitting on an electric scooter and drinking the beer.

“The beer came from Walmart, and I did not pay for them,” Driscoll told police.

A Walmart employee said she heard “clinking in his pockets” as he exited the store. Driscoll placed the six beers in his pockets, then proceeded outside, opened a beer, and sat on a scooter, according to the affidavit.

“The male appeared to be under the influence of alcohol, and began becoming hostile towards Law Enforcement,” the officer said.

Driscoll was charged with Shoplifting, Resist Merchant, and Petit Theft. He was transported to the Indian River County Jail.
