On December 7, 2021, the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance from the Sebastian Police Department’s K9 Unit in apprehending a suspect who lit a residence on fire with the family’s pet inside.

When K9 Officer Smith and his partner Ghost arrived on the scene, the IRCSO had a good perimeter established, and the deputies directed Officer Smith to where the suspect was last seen.

K9 Ghost located the suspect after a short track, and he was taken into custody. The dog inside the home was rescued!

Travis Tanner Pippin, 36, was charged with arson of a structure, cruelty to animals, resisting arrest without violence, and trespassing on property after witnesses identified him as the person who burnt down a house on Caribbean Circle in Vero Beach.

The Vero Beach man is being held in lieu of $75,000 bond.

Great job Officer Smith, Ghost, and the IRCSO.
