On Monday, Judge Michael Linn held a status meeting with Damien Gilliams, Pamela Parris, and their attorneys. Judge Linn rescheduled the sentencing hearing for 9:00 a.m. on Sept. 14, 2021.
Parris was seen on Zoom with some “Certificate of Appreciation” document and a walking cane facing the camera for the judge to see.
Unbelievably, as we just saw Parris last Thursday during a ribbon-cutting ceremony for a helicopter and gyrocopter company at the Sebastian Municipal Airport with no mask and no cane!
Parris was inside a small office with several people without a mask, drinking wine coolers and snacking on hors d’oeuvres. She then walked outside with her wine, hoping to get a ride in a helicopter.
No one saw her wearing a face mask to protect her health, and she did not have a walking cane at the Sebastian Chamber event.
We have also published numerous photos taken from Sebastian residents showing Parris hanging out in public, having no concerns about her health.
Philip L. Reizenstein, the attorney representing Parris, told the judge that he was concerned about his client’s health and being in a courtroom with other people. His concern was with the recent COVID-19 virus. The judge told Reizenstein that spectators could watch the sentencing from a different courtroom via Zoom. The sentencing will move forward without delay.
“I would like to get everything done,” Judge Linn stated during the Monday, August 23, 2021, status hearing.
Assistant State Attorney Chris Taylor asked the judge to have both the sentencing and restitution conducted on the same day because of all the delays.
“We can talk about restitution, cost of prosecution, cost of investigation, all in 30 minutes,” Taylor told Linn.
Jeffrey H. Garland, the attorney for Gilliams, said his sentencing presentation would only take 30 minutes.
Garland and Reizenstein say they have many objections to the restitution and having it on the same day as sentencing.
Judge Linn is still moving forward, and the new sentencing date will be Sept. 14, 2021, at 9:00 a.m.
