On Sunday afternoon, the Sebastian Police Department received a couple of calls from citizens about an intoxicated man who had fallen into a ditch near Melrose Lane and Carnation Drive.

As officers arrived at approximately 1:45 p.m., they walked up to the subject, later identified as 68-year-old Parker Alan Lord, who appeared to be heavily intoxicated.

“Lord’s speech was extremely slurred, and officers had difficulty understanding him. He was sitting in the grassy right of way,” the officer said.

Since Lord only lived a few houses down the roadway, the officer decided to walk him home. But when doing so, Lord’s behavior became aggressive towards his neighbors who were outside, the affidavit said.

“Once at his residence, Lord would not go inside or sit down. He seemed intent on going over to his neighbor’s residence to start an altercation. Officers attempted several times to convince Lord to stay at his residence,” the police said.

Lord then smacked one of the police officers with an open hand. The police warned him not to touch them, but Lord continued to put his hands near the officers.

As officers were attempting to leave, Lord was given the last reminder to stay on his porch or go inside and not go back into the roadway nor confront his neighbors,” the affidavit said.

As one of the officers turned away to leave, Lord grabbed their wrist, causing the officer to pull away from him to break his grasp. After that, the police took Lord into custody.

Lord was arrested on charges of Disorderly Intoxication and transported to the Indian River County Jail for processing.
