The shooting occurred at approximately 9:25 p.m. in the 4600 block of 38th Avenue.

Deputies located 29-year-old Don Phillips II, of Gifford, deceased beside a vehicle.

“Detectives responded to the scene and began canvassing the neighborhood, which has provided very little information,” Major Eric Flowers told Sebastian Daily.

Crime scene detectives processed the scene for forensic evidence. An autopsy is being performed today.

“Our detectives worked overnight speaking with neighbors and family members. Someone knows what happened last night and we need them to come forward with information. We will continue to seek justice in this case and get the killer off the streets,” Indian River County Sheriff Deryl Loar said.
